ADAM

  • ADAM - The IoT Aqua Data Auto Monitor

Project Details
  • Date: October, 2018

  • Client: Flowdaq

  • Services: IoT Product Launch

  • Category: Web Design, Projects

Description

You may have heard of Flowdaq, an IoT-focussed technology company based in Dublin, Ireland. You may have seen their articles featured in a couple of issues of the acclaimed Trade magazine ‘Refreshment’.

The result: an innovative product which can tell you EXACTLY when your customers use their water. In other words, we can tell you in near real-time exactly how many bottles of water your customer has left at any given Watercooler, at any given location or even at any given facility.

Have you ever come across a situation where you thought, ‘There MUST be an easier way’? Well this is the question which led Flowdaq CEO and founder to put on his thinking cap and come up with the solution to a well-documented problem in the bulk bottled water industry, and just like that, ADAM was born.

ADAM is an Aqua Data Auto Monitor, and it sits on the side of a bottled water cooler and feeds key pieces of missing information to bottled water distributors, giving them the answers which can improve the quality of their service, increase sales, increase customer retention and cut down on the their company’s carbon footprint, all within a few bytes of information. But, back to the inception of ADAM.

Ron Healy was sitting in a cafeteria in Maynooth University where he was lecturing at the time. It was the middle of summer, and the campus was a proverbial ghost town. He watched a delivery truck pull up, and watched as the delivery driver loaded several 19 litre bottles of water onto a trolley, haul them across the courtyard, into the lift, down the hallway, and into the cafeteria, only to find that there was plenty of full bottles at the water cooler and no room for any more. The driver headed back out into the hallway, down the corridor, into the lift, back out into the courtyard, and load the bottles back onto the van, and off he drove probably muttering about what a waste of time this journey was. “There MUST be an easier way”, Ron mused. If only the driver had known that a delivery was not needed in this particular place, on this particular day. If only there was a way for him to know how many bottles were left at the water cooler?

This pondering led to a 4 year journey that would see the conception of a plan, the forming of a company, the devising of a product, the beginning of a partnership, the completion of field trials, and eventually, the launch of ADAM, the first product of its kind. ADAM is set to revolutionise the way water distribution companies do business.

Flowdaq’s custom built propriety device will feed almost real time statistics from the water cooler, directly to the distributor’s delivery planning system. Vital information such as how many full and empty bottles are at any given location at any given time, will allow the distributor to know when a customer needs a delivery, before they even know themselves. In an ideal world, a customer should NEVER run out of water, and now that can become a reality. This information alone can boost sales, reduce distribution costs, and increase customer retention while never breaking an SLA with your more important customers.

Flowdaq are currently running trials for ADAM with some of the major brands in the industry and have already started work on their next product. This by-product will fill in the missing blanks for the point of use (mains fed) sector, making life easier for the entire industry. For more information on how to begin your own trial with Flowdaq, please visit www.flowdaq.com or contact us at enquiries@flowdaq.com.

ADAM is currently in trials with some Major companies in several different countries around the world, and ADAM pt2 will go into product very soon, which is set to revolutionise not only the world of bottled and Point Of Use water delivery, but technology and IoT Itself
